No, MyScene is not the same as Barbie. However, both lines of dolls are made from the same company, Mattel. And both lines of dolls previously included a character named Barbie (But now they don't make the MyScene dolls with the name Barbie, now they have a new character.)

I'm a little confused by your question. Only Mattel has the rights to make the Barbie doll, at least here in the United States. There have been doll manufacturers in other countries that have purchased the rights to make and sell Barbie dolls in their own countries, such as Rosebud in England, Estrela in Brazil and Takara in Japan, but I don't think that is what you are asking. Other companies in the United States make fashion dolls the same size as Barbie, or make clothes to fit 11 1/2 inch dolls. Some examples of competitors over the years have been Ideal, Hasbro and Kenner. It's possible that you have clothing made by one of the competitors.

Mattel was originally known as Matson and Elliott, of which it is a sort of contraction. Under the Matson and Elliott label they made the Linoprinter, a combination typesetting machine and printing press, which sadly did poorly in the market place. It was not known whether to market it as a toy or a business machine. Mattel, Inc. The designers for Mattel are based in Los Angeles at the company's headquarters. Takara is a toy-making company in Japan. It had the license from Mattel to make Barbie dolls in the 1980s. Takara Barbies are very different from their American counterparts--they are shorter with paler skin, plus their arms and legs don't really bend.

Yes, and sadly there is a lingerie barbie as well.
No way, Barbie has always been a Mattel product, G.I Joe holds the fort, so to speak for Hasbro. During the civil war centennial there were some confederate and Union war toys dolls- like Johnny Reb, I think he was made by Marx.
