I have an insurance claim for lab work for a bone marrow biopsy performed on me in November, 2009. The sample was shipped from my physician's office in Abington, PA to a lab in Michigan run by Bashar Dabbas, MD. Total cost submitted by the lab: $14,985.00. (Note: this does NOT include the cost of the procedure itself which was around $1000.00) Unbeknownst to me, this doctor is NOT on CIGNA's in-network list and my out of pocket expenses for the lab work is $2000.00.
