It depends on what time the papers are available to pickup vs the deadline time. If you can pick the papers up at 3 am and have until 6 am, then the newspaper will try to make 3 hour routes. If the route is small and can be completed before deadline time, then the newspaper will try to consolidate the route with another smaller one. Combining routes saves the newspaper money.
You can make up to about 40 dollars a year and on the holidays 100's of dollars, depending on where your paper route is. I am getting a job soon and I am only 12 years old so, If I can do it, anyone really can. Don't forget that you might have to pay for gas if you drive so, I would take a bike or even walk.
