The most venomous snake on earth is the Belcher's Sea Snake (Hydrophis Belcheri) or the Faint Banded Sea Snake, some consider the Inland Taipan (Oxyuranus microlepidotus) an/or the Beaked Sea Snake (Enhydrina schistosa) to be the most toxic, however, with recent and more accurate studies 2010 prove the Belcheri has a 100 times more toxic venom then the two above or any other snake on earth.

It has a paddle-like tail, breathes air and can hold it's breath up to 8 hours, a few milligrams of venom can kill over a thousand people.

It's habitat is a wide range in the South Pacific.

Excluding the Belcher's Sea Snake the next most venomous snakes on earth according to their venom rating are:

2- Inland Tiapan (Oxyuranus Microlepidotus).

3- Common Indian Krait (Bungarus Caeruleus).

4- Philippine Cobra (Naja Philippinensis).

5- King Cobra (Ophiophagus Hanna).

6- Russell's Viper (Vipera Russellii).

7- Black Mamba (Dendroaspis Polylepis).

8- Yellow Jawed Tommygoff (Bothrops Asper).

9- Multibanded krait (Bungarus Multicinctus).

10- Tigar Snake (Notechis Scutatus).

11- Jararacussu (Bothrops Jararacussu).

Yes, the inland taipan is considered the most venomous snake in the world. It possesses extremely potent venom that is lethal to humans if bitten. Just a small amount of its venom can cause severe damage to the nervous system and organs.

It is the most venomous land snake officially recorded to date.

On a universal scale where venom toxicity is measured against the Asiatic Cobra, which is 1, the Inland Taipan is 50.

However, the amount of venom injected in one bite is very tiny in comparison. It uses a strike and release, rather than that, for instance, of the King Brown snakes method of strike and latch on while continually injecting (like a chewing motion), making the amount of venom injected more of a threat than some of the more venomous snakes.

The Inland Taipan, or Fierce Snake, almost exclusively feeds on small mammals such as rodents. To avoid its' prey attacking it in retaliation or in defence, it has developed smaller fangs and an extremely potent venom so it can rapidly strike and release its' victims without harm to itself.

Only a tiny amount of venom is injected, but it is so highly toxic, nearly three times more venomous than that of the second most venomous land snake, and fifty times more venomous than the Asiatic Cobra, that it only takes some victims seconds to succumb. It then follows the scent trail of the victim, which is usually not very far away, and devours it, head first.

Yes, if I am not mistaken. The inland taipan is of the family elapidae, like coral snakes. They have what is called solenoglyphous dentition, meaning that their large fang teeth are hollow for venom injection, and when not in use the fangs fold back and rest on the roof of the mouth.
