I've been on the road for thirty years and my gut feeling would be something like a 750 "street" and a 125 "off road" those are are pretty easy to handle and have plenty of power. I would suggest buying used bikes, the main reason being as you get more expirienced you will find yourself growing out of them, save your money and after a while you will be shopping for that big cruiser dream bike. Keep the shiney side up and I'll see ya on the road!
In New Hampshire anything over 50cc is considered a motorcycle and you need a motorcycle license to drive it.
Well, it depends on what state you are in, but if you have your motorcycle license, there is no limit to how many cc bike you can have.
i believe to be considered a motorcycle it must have more than 50 cc. and i know that 2 wheeled vehicles with 50cc or less are considered low speed vehicles and are still legal on 35 mph roads. check with your dmv.
Engine size has nothing to do with the definition of a motorcycle. If it has 2 wheels, powered by an engine and has no pedals it's a motorcycle.
150cc
Please check the motorcycle manual to clarify this (related link).
49 Anything 50ccs and over requires a motorcycle endorsement.
The amount of cc will influence the accelaration and the gears will influence the speed you can reach. You could go very fast with a 125 cc bike, but it will normally take you longer to reach that speed than with a 1100 cc motorcycle. dmx
If the engine is 49 cc or smaller, then it is a scooter. If the engine is larger, for example 60 cc, then it is a small motorcycle. Anything above 50 cc is no longer a scooter. This is a legal definition that has to do with which category a motor vehicle on two wheels belongs to. In most people's minds, however, a motorcycle with a 100 cc engine is considered a small bike. This is because motorcycle producers have steadily been producing bigger engines over the years. In 1966, the Honda CB 450 was considered a motorcycle with a large engine. Now, a 450 cc is just medium sized.
Yes, any scooter over 50cc is considered a motorcycle in Michigan. Because of this you have to have your cy endorsement, and register it as a motorcycle.
