Well i sent a number of presorted self addressed stamped envelopes from Erie to Chicago last Februrary. I put them in my mailbox Saturday evening around 6:15. The mail man showed up Tuesday because monday was some stupid holiday and he took my envelopes with him at around 2:24 pm. He drove at a rate of roughly 23 mph through the neighbor hood while completeing his rounds and returned to the main office approximately 2.4 hours later. I estimate the sorting process for all the outgoing mail that he collected took no less than 2-3 hours at which point it was loaded onto a pallet awaiting delivery the following morning. When the delivery truck picked up the shipment of packages at 8:06 am the following day the Driver stopped at Burger King to pick up a croissan' wich and a coffee for the trip and hit the road around 10 am heading south out of Erie. The 446 mile journey demanded more fuel then the driver had anticipated and he was forced to stop for fuel near Birmingham Ohio. He was forced to fill up a second time outside of Elkhart Indiana. These two stops combined with his rest area stop at mile marker 238 added about 46 minutes to his trip. He arrived in Chicago at 6:02 pm just in time to make it to the central mail processing center before the 7:00 pre-sort deadline. He unloaded his shipment at 6:47 pm and the mail was quickly sorted and prepared for delivery. The following day the envelopes where shipped out to the addresses listed and arrived at their destinations between 1:46 and 1:53 pm. So from my experience it takes roughly 4 days 19 hours and 36 minutes (give or take 5 minutes) for USPS standard delivery to deliver from PA to IL. Hope this helped.

It depends no what is shipped and from what service. The normal delivery rate is three to five business days. But if it's something ordered online, then, it will take anywhere between five to seven business days. Nine business days is pushing it. Although, it depends if there are holidays in between.
