I think you mean Dialysis. Dialysis filters blood in your kidney for you when you go under kidney work or your kidneys doesn't function like its suppose to. You usually can live off of one kidney, but if your last kidney goes out(Kidney Failure) then they can you up to a dialysis machine and filter your kidneys for you. Hope this helps =]

It allows some molecules to pass through (semipermeable) just like a cell membrane.

What household item can be used to represent a cell membrane?

A plastic sandwich bag can be used to represent a cell membrane. Just like a cell membrane, the bag is a thin, flexible barrier that controls what enters and exits the "cell."

What is the bag called that holds the cytoplasm in?

The membrane that surrounds the cytoplasm in a cell is called the cell membrane or plasma membrane.

What is a cell membrane like?

A cell membrane is a thin, flexible barrier that surrounds and protects the interior of a cell. It controls the passage of substances in and out of the cell, allowing nutrients to enter and waste products to exit. The cell membrane is composed of lipids, proteins, and carbohydrates.

What is the difference between the cell wall and the cell membrane?

The cell membrane is on both an animal and plant cell, and a cell wall is a stiff 'box' shape enclosing a plant cell. Think of it as a plastic bag, filled with jelly, with blobs of plastercene in is, the plastercene being the nucleus and the jelly the chlorophill. The plastic bag is a cell membrane. This is an animal cell. Now add a small box and a few more different coloured blobs of plastercene inside the bag- these are the plant cell's vacole and chloroplasts. Put the plastic bag and its contents into a large box- this is a plant cell. The big box is the cell wall.Hope this is useful!

A dialysis bag is filled with distilled water and then placed in a sucrose solution?

Distilled water will move out of the dialysis bag and into the sucrose solution due to osmosis and the fact that the dialysis bag has a hypertonic solution of H2O as compared to the sucrose solution.

Why is a cloth like a cell membrane?

A cloth is like a cell membrane because both act as barriers that control what can pass through them. Just as a cloth selectively allows some substances to pass through while blocking others, a cell membrane regulates the movement of molecules in and out of the cell to maintain internal balance and function.

What cell feature has been called 'Not just a bag but a fluid mosaic gatekeeper'?

The cell membrane is often referred to as "not just a bag but a fluid mosaic gatekeeper." This description highlights its dynamic nature, with proteins and lipids constantly moving within the membrane, allowing it to regulate the flow of molecules in and out of the cell. It serves as a selective barrier that controls the passage of substances into and out of the cell.
