It is actually in Jerusalem. The location is about 400 yards South East of the old city. The distance is referred to as a Sabbath day's journey in The Bible.

The Mount of Olives is in Jerusalem, across the valley from the Old City. It is the site of the oldest Jewish cemetery in the world, but was destroyed and vandalized by Jordan when they occupied Jerusalem. My father was buried there after being killed by an Arab sniper, in 1948, and I have no idea where his gravesite is.
