In Judaism, based on Genesis ch.1 and Leviticus 23:32, all days including the Sabbath last from sunset to sunset. In actual practice, we begin our Shabbat a short time before sunset (on Friday) and end it after twilight on Saturday. This is done for several reasons and is a little longer than the actual Biblical day of Sabbath.

Sabbath begins at sundown on Friday evening, and ends after dark on Saturday evening. Since these times vary, one must observe the sunset in one's area. Observant Jews publish and possess lists of Sabbath-times to facilitate its observance.

The Biblical basis for the above is found in Genesis 1:5. "...So the evening and the morning were the first day." Judaism reckons its day by this declaration. Sabbath means "rest" in Hebrew, and it is the seventh day (Genesis 2:1-3). Even on the Roman calendar that the Western world uses today, Saturday (the Jewish Sabbath) is the seventh day.

Shabbat starts on a Friday evening, sunset and ends on a Saturday evening, sunset. Between those times, Jewish people cannot work.

Shabbat is observed on the seventh day of the week. It begins at sundown

on our Friday night, and ends at sundown on our Saturday night.
Jews observe the Shabbat (Sabbath) on Saturday.

According to Jewish tradition, that means the period of time between

Friday sunset and Saturday sunset.

Read Leviticus 23

The first day of the Year is actually the Spring Equinox (ye are all children of light). That is why the sundial was invented. Count foreword 14 days and at evening the passover starts, it ends the next day at sundown.

Days in The Bible - beginning in Genesis 1 - begin at sunset and go to the next sunset. As such, Exodus 20:8 command begins at sunset Friday and ends at sunset on Saturday. No other time or day is authorized by God for our 'rest.'

The Sabbath is not a punishment period but rather a time of relief from our daily routines and stress. We are to focus on the creation hence the Creator Himself who has set this time/day apart for this Holy purpose.

We should always remember what Jesus told us:

Mark 2:27-28New International Version (NIV)27 Then he said to them, The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.28 So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.

The Jewish Sabbath is observed on Saturday. The ritual calendar considers each 'day' to to run from one sunset to the next sunset, so all Hebrew religious dates begin at sunset on the evening before the corresponding secular date. The Sabbath starts slightly before sunset on Friday night, and ends slightly after sunset on Saturday night.

The Sabbath is a day of rest on the weekend which is Saturday, Sunday is the first day of the week, Sunday is not the Sabbath, Sunday is church day.

A day consist of 12 hours not 24hours, Sabbath must be kept during the daylight hours. I say that from 6am on Saturday to 6pm on Saturday you should keep that day holy.

For me the Sabbath day begins at 6am on saturday and my Sabbath day ends at 6pm Saturday evening, this is the equivalent of one whole day as a day has only 12 hours (remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy)

If your Sabbath begins at 6pm on Friday and ends at 6pm on Saturday that is a total of 24 hours! The bible also says that no man can work when night comes. sleeping at night is what we do anyway so what is there to gain from that?

It begins at sunset on Friday and ends when three stars are visible (or would, theoretically, be visible) on Saturday.
