I find it best to get to talk to him with a group of friends, not just one on one, then once you more comfortable, talk to him by yourself.
Making friends with some of his friends always a good idea to, then you will have more chances of being able to talk to him.
You only have one life, talk to him because one day you might not have the chance to do just that.
