First thing you need to do is UNLOAD THE FIRE ARM!!!!!!
Then remove the butt plate ( normally two Phillips head screws )
under the butt plate there will be a large hole( wood stock )
in that hole is a large bolt, it might need a large flat head screw driver about 10-12 inches long. Use a flash light to look down the hole and see. Lefty loosey - righty tighty.

The 1187 is a safety modified Reminton 1100. The safety was changed in 1987, hence the model number change from 1100 to 1187.
