(95-02) Millenia S 2.3l s/c ignition coil removal/spark plug locator
tools: phillips screwdriver, 8mm socket, needle nose pliers, 10mm,12mm socket
notes: ignition coil 1,3,5 back from the left -2,4,6 from left front (facing engine)
associated with codes p0300-p0306
firstly there are two sets of three coils.
In the front, you need to detach the inter cooler by a 12 bolt and two 12 nuts (do not bend/lose the gasket).
then you must detach the two clamps closest to the front of the car holding the inter cooler.
then you remove the ignition wires from the coil packs with a screwdriver, or just clip them off.
then you must either use a 8mm socket or philips screwdriver to remove the coil- do not stretch the spring in the boot.
back set- you must disconnect the egr valve hose, and wire switch. you must also remove the other wire harness connectors in that area.
there is a 10 head bolt that is for the ignition start which is a lightly colored plastic square.( this piece must be grounded back into the place on the bracket for car to start back up!).
then on the bracket which houses all the intake actuators must be removed. this has two 10 bolts and a 12 head bolt holding it on. then you must push it out of the way, being careful not to pull any of the hoses out.
then there is a hose with two squeeze clamps over the coil packs. take a needle nose pliers to remove this bringing the clamps in the middle and sliding the hose off the two openings. then disconnect the ignition wires. then use either the 8mm socket, or philips screwdriver to remove the coils.
On the Millenia, each plug has its own coil; there is no distributor. The coils are connected directly to the spark plugs on each cylinder.
left(front) bank. middle coil(2-4-6)
Follow the wires from the spark plugs and they will go to the distributor unless the engine does not have one and has a coil pack.
Where is the igniyion coil on a2002 mazda protege
on the millenia missfire, check your catalytic converters it has 3 chances are one or more has fallen into pieces in the pipe where do people come up with guesses like these? random miss on a millenia is most likely electrical. definitely NOT cats. if you have a 2.5, check your ign wires, spark plugs, and ign distributor. if you have a 2.3, check plugs and coil packs
This is usually a bad coil pack. This cylinder is located in the middle back. I had a lot of dealers that didn't know and some manuals are wrong. They run 1,3,5 on the back.
remove the plastic engine cover from top of engine, you will have to pull the fuel rail as it runs above the coil packs, remove the screw that holds the coil pack and unplug the harness then pull coil pack and plug wire assembly out.
Caution:Some models are equipped with an anti-theft radio. Before disconnecting the battery cable make sure you have the activation code for the radio. * Disconnect negative battery cable * Unplug the coil electrical connector * Unplug the spark plug wires from the coil * Remove the coil mounting bolts * Remove the coil assembly
if the coil is on the distributor cap, remove cover then disconnect wires from the coil and remove coil. if coil is on engine then loosen the bolt and remove from coil mount
Is it possible an electrical problem can cause my engine coil to burn on my Mazda 323
There are 8 bolts that hold it on. First remove the cover to the coil packs, Then the coil packs then the vallve cover,
