you mix a little baking soda and vinegar in an empty glass, the vinegar and baking soda makes an invisible gas called carbon monoxide. you then pour the gas into another empty glass, making sure not to pour the liquid into the glass as well. then after that, your pour what seems to be air over the lit candle and voila, your "magic trick" is done.

You need a plastic bottle (0.5L for example).

Into the bottle you pour some baking soda.

Then, add vinegar. Be prepared - the resulting mix will serve as a rocket fuel.

The idea is that forming baking soda/vinegar reaction would blast away the bottle cap and propel the bottle into the air. So you need to use some cheap quality bottle :)

Check the link, there is some video tutorial included. Good luck!

The acid of vinegar and the base of baking soda will cause a chemical reaction and will create carbon dioxide gas. Carbon dioxide gas can extinguish a fire, it does this by reducing the amount of oxygen in the air around the burning object, which will blow out the candle.

All you have to do is take a bottle and then just add about one cup baking soda (the more you do the bigger the explosion) and then just start pouring in vinegar and it will start exploding. Try dying it red with food coloring it looks really cool!

in my class, we placed baking soda in a plastic cup and added vinegar to it (about 5ml) and it started bubbling (it was cool!)

Baking soda and vinegar react to form carbon dioxide gas. The carbon dioxide gas is collected, and because it is heavier than air, it will smother a flame as the gas is poured onto it.
