it may never go away, just like any other scar. to reduce scarring you can use scar reduction cream (mederma, ect)

I used mederma - it's a scar healing ointment. Basically that bump is a keloid, which is a type of scar. It took a few weeks, maybe a month to go away. I applied every night and washed thoroughly in the morning. Make sure to moisturize the area and don't pick at it - touch it if you haven't washed your hands!
