Distributor has been pulled and now needs to be put back? Get the number one cylinder to TDC, top dead center, put the distributor in and see where the rotor is. Set the distributor to the closest contact on the cap and call that No. 1. Put the rest of the wires in the correct order and set the timing with a light after it is running. The distributor can be put in and any point used for No. 1 as long as it is set up for that. It is the relationship between the distributor and the crank that is important. Until you have No. 1 cylinder at TDC, no one can tell you how to put the distributor in, there is no way to know by looking. Take out No. 1 plug and turn the motor over by hand until you feel the compression coming out of the plug hole. Watch the timing mark on the crank and when the mark comes up to the pointer, that is TDC. Timing is 8 degrees before TDC I think, but you should check that as it has been a while since I've worked on that particular motor.
how to install dist. on a buick 225 v6
what is the distributor setting for a 1996 Chevy blazer
Clockwise.
no,v6 dizzy will not work in straight line to start with the shaft is shorter on v6
no that is not possibale because of the lenght of the shaft
The 1977 Chevy Nova came with an inline 6 and a V8. They did not come with a V6. If a V6 has been installed you need to know which one as the chevy engines have very different firing orders.
That would be the distributor.
