Hi all,
My hair is highlighted blonde and in a long bob. I, like many others, find it very hard to keep my hair feeling and looking great. After years of blow drying, dying and straightening my hair, it often feels dry and brittle.
After asking my hairdresser and looking for tips in the internet, the thing i'd swear by is leaving conditioner in my hair.
First of all, i wash it as i would normally, using any shampoo. Then, i apply a fair amount of conditioner to the lengths of my hair, avoiding the roots as this makes hair look greasy sometimes. (my hair is coloured so i usually find conditioner for coloured, damaged or brittle hair works best although any will work). I clip the hair up with the conditioner still in my hair, and leave for around 15-30 mins depending on the time i have. (you could leave on for up to an hour depending on how bad your hair is) When ready, rinse well and dry as normal. My hair is left feeling soft, shiny and feeling in much better condition! I usually do this once every few weeks although you could do it as little or as often as required.
Protecting my hair with a heat protection spray/cream before i blow dry or heat style also helps.
Brown hair dye rather than blonde/highlights also seems to keep my hair in better condition. (obviously not dying your hair at all is best at keeping it in good condition)
I hope these tips helped!
