plug the 2 usb devices in open both windows and copy and paste your file on the other usb
windows does not need to know the device name if it shows the device as a mass storage device.
In the device manager folder, they have to click the "unknown device" link. From there investigate where it says the location of the "unknown device" is, and it will be seen. More often than not, it is a usb keyboard or mouse.Ê
None just unplug the device
In my experience, devices often do this when they are not self powered and are plugged into a usb port which is also not self powered like a non-powered usb hub. The computers usb port puts out a limited amount of power so when the device can't fully power itself windows sees the hardware but can't figure out what it is because it never gets the usb id (or another variant I've had is that it keeps detecting that I've added and removed the device before windows can get a lock on it) Hope that helps
You must install the drivers for it, and make sure that the driver for the USB hub is also installed.
No devices are listed in a device manger, because there is no such thing.Microsoft Windows OS does have a Device Manager.BIOS setup will not display scanners, printers, or some USB and FireWire devices.Device manager will not display legacy devices that do not utilized Plug and Play (PnP) technologyThe Printers window may not recognize some USB and FireWire devices.
There shouldn't be any problems with the device. Windows 7 is pretty good at detecting and installing older devices.
A USB flash drive is a temporary storage device. It has nothing to do with DOS or Windows. It is simply a device you can store data on. As long as you have a USB port you can save something to it no matter if it is DOS or windows. For instance, let's day you plug in your USB device and it shows up as d:drive. If you did the command copy funny.doc to d:. Then the file would be copied over to the USB flash drive.
If you are using Windows 95 on the device, make sure the USB supplement is installed. Very few USB devices are actually supported by Windows 95, so if you are having problems getting a particular device to work, you may be out of luck.
it charges but not with usb cable and it plays songs
You may need to verify the printer driver is correct. If you connected the Printer before installing the driver, you may need to go into Device Manager and "uninstall" the generic printer/device that Windows installed for you. At that point, you can disconnect and reconnect the USB cable and windows should recognize the printer correctly... as long as you installed the correct driver. Similarly, you could try using a different USB port for your printer.
