LOL good luck , I smacked one with a flat shovel , and he looked back at me and laughed they are so creepy looking
I heard hot water will get rid of them .
The way I heard it was to grab them (gloved hand for squeamish) and drown them in a bucket of bleach laced water. if this is the "easiest" solution I am glad they don't grow more than about 4 oz. A friend says they make good bait for fishing but, since they are evolved to taste bad and can squirt scram juice in your face, would you really want to eat something that ate a lubber?!?
Yes, there are many species of grasshoppers that live in the desert. In the southwest United States one of the most spectacular grasshoppers is the horse lubber.

Grasshoppers are insects. The "sec" in insect refers to the number of legs that they have which is six. In this case, two big ones at the back and four smaller ones at the front
The Horse Lubber is the common name of Taeniopodaeques.Specifically, the size of this insect makes it hard to miss. The adult matures to a length of 3 inches/7.62 centimeters. So to other grasshoppers and in comparison to many more petitely sized insects, this short-horned lubber looks as big as a horse.
The lubber grasshoppers prey is mainly grasses , leaves ,and the plant it lives on it has a lot more predators then prey though. The predators of this grasshopper are birds, rats ,mice ,rodents ,and any type of carnivore . This is why it needs to camouflage.
Eastern lubber grasshoppers have several defense mechanisms that make most predators avoid them. These insects secrete a smelly and foul-tasting foam when threatened. The are also bright yellow, a color that signals that it is poisonous. It is poisonous enough to kill small mammals and birds, and larger animals are more interested in larger prey.
Of course. Anything that takes food in has to get rid of waste.
