The player is probably broken.
If the DVD player in your vehicle is not powering on the wiring may have come loose. Take your trailblazer to a repair man that can fix DVD players and other electronics.
Assuming the aftermarket DVD player is for automobile: If the DVD manufacturer states that it could be used for the Trailblazer, it is likely that it will work. You might have to modify the bracket holder, the fascia and some other trim pieces. If you try to use a DVD player that does not design for the vehicle, the electrical connector and wiring will be incomparable with the ones in the vehicle and it won't work.
There should be a DVD button on your stereo. Mine also came with two pairs of wireless headphones so folks could watch a DVD without the driver having to listen to the sound.

The DVD player is located in the spare tire well. It's mounted under the rear flooring to the right side of the tire, behind the jack. To eject the DVD, slide the switch cover on the front left side of the player (this opens the DVD slot) and press recessed button. The DVD will then eject.
