You drag all of the apps inside out out the folder and then it disappears.
left click on the folder once and press the backspace or delete key or right click and select "delete folder" Click "Okay" when a warning message pops up, asking you 'Are you sure you want to delete Folder _____ and all of its contents?"
You go to an empty space, than tap on the bottom tab stating, Create Folder and then you can place apps inside of it. To rename it or delete it, press settings, than either tap rename or delete.

Your iPod will not delete apps on its own. You must delete the apps yourself.
Right click on the folder you want to delete. Read the options you want to do with that folder. Then, there should be a button that says "Delete Folder". Click on that and it will delete it.

Basically, you can't delete the "built-in" apps (like Calendar or Safari) unless you "jailbreak" the phone - which voids your Apple warranty. You can only delete apps that you add later.To delete apps, go to the home screen and hold any icon until they all start to wiggle. Any app that has an X in the corner of the icon can be deleted by tapping on the X. Built-in apps do not have an X, meaning they cannot be deleted. However, you can move them to another screen or a folder - I created a "not used" folder on the last screen where I moved my built-in Calendar after buying a Calendar app. You can move icons and rename folders in Itunes by going to your ipod/iphone and clicking on Apps
