You withdraw your petition, but the other parent can object or counter file. If the parents are not together, there needs to be a court order, even if only mediated, which can be far cheaper to achieve. see link

The only person that can close a child support case in NYC is the custodial parent. If the custodial parent chooses to close the case, she (or he) needs to petition the family court that opened the case, as well as contact the division of child support enforcement for New York state.

wait for the child to turn 18.

or you could fight for sole custody of the child/children so that your ex-spouse must then pay YOU child support.

Some rules may vary depending on which state you live in and you may be able to find some strange loophole in order to stop paying. Your best bet is to do research or contact a lawyer. but you should probably just pay it.. i mean you had the children you should help support them.

If your case originated in a child support recovery unit, contact them to close the case. If it was originated through the court system, you will have to go back to court to close the case.

The only person who can close a case is the parent who originally filed the case. In other words, the parent who is ordered to pay cannot request the Child Support order be stopped.

You need to file a doc called satisfaction of judgement.

The only way to cancel a support obligation is to have an order, signed by a judge, suspending or terminating the support order.

Generally, no. However, you need to check online for the website of the court that has jurisdiction and search for options for filing motions online.
