First, you must have the Enterna Gym Badge, the feild move Cut and a Game Boy Advance (Any of them work).
Once you have all the above, walk into Enterna Forest and walk West for a bit. When you see some bushes inline with a white picket fence, walk North towards them and cut them down with the feild move Cut. Walk Northinto the Old Building. This place is called the Old Chateu.
Once your inside, explore the building. Once you have done exploring the whole building, you may have noticed a purple figure in a purple picture with red glowing eyes. The eyes look at you when your in the building with it and the two either side of it. Save your game and turn off whilst inside the Old Chateu if you haven't put the Game Boy Advance Game in, if you have already got it in, don't turn off but do save. Walk to the picture and click the A button and you should be in a battle with a Gengar.
Make Sure you have some Pokeballs with you since the Gengar most likely won't hang around if you run from the battle.
i got mine from trading a haunter with my brother if it dosent evolve the fist time trade it until it does
