Several ways. Some walked across the Bering land bridge from modern Russia to Alaska. Some came by boat along the coastal currents. Some are thought to have come across from Europe when the glacier ice was still intact over the path across what is now Greenland to Nova Scotia. We are learing more about this all the time. Archaeology is a wonderful thing. In combination with the other sciences , we may someday have a definitive answer.
Across the land-bridge from Siberia, about 12,000 years ago, having originated in Central Asia, as confirmed by dental records.
The first people known to come by boat to continental North America were Vikings sailors from Scandinavia.

Probably, they were people who crossed a temporary land bridge from Siberia to Alaska, and then moved downward between glaciers, although some archaeologists believe that people may have come to South America on boats that they were able to cross the ocean with. These early peoples evolved into the Inuit, Inca, Maya, Zapotec, Anasazi and other tribes over time.
Actually, the first Americans came from asia. These are the people we know as Native Americans. They crossed over to North America by a land bridge. They did not know this was a land bridge, though. They were simply following the herds of animals that they hunted. Then came the English settlers. These people wanted to claim America, even though the Native Americans were already living here! By now, the Native Americans had found there way through what we now call Canada, the U.S., Mexico, and South America.

It is thought man first populated North America some time during the last Ice Age, probably 10,000 to 18,000 years ago.
Yes. Technically the first people to find North America were Native Americans, who migrated from Asia across Russia to Alaska. However, many people consider Columbus to be the first to find North America (because he made it known to the whole world that there was two more continents, after his death), but in reality the first European to land on North American was Leif Ericson.
