Bruce ruptured a disk in his lower back which caused him to be in the hospital for 6 months. Before he got out he started taking some medication to help it heal, it was doing the trick but he started getting all kinds of bad headaches while filming Enter The Dragon (He fainted 2 times). So later on he took another type of medication to help his headaches. Eventually both medications caused an allergic reaction which gave him Cerebral Edema, and killed him.

A cerebral edema causes the brain to swell. It was believed to have been caused by an allergic reaction to a pain killer.
