Beneath the handbrake level there would be a small electric/electronic switch which must have got damaged so get it replaced from your mechanic. There's one more serious concern sometimes when the main brakes malfunction the same indicator glows so better get your vehicle's entire braking system thoroughly checked.
your switch that tells the car that the brake is off is defective
Either the switch (on the handbrake) is sticking or you have a short circuit, usually caused by corroded wires or connections.
it culd be that u have problems with the hand break calbe, or the diferential
you have to put your handbrake on and then it wont roll down the hill
does this happen when you want to reverse on a hill?, if so, the handbrake sensor thinks the car is slipping and keeps the handbrake engaged, so you need to manually release the handbrake by pulling it (exactly the same way as you engaged it) Hope this helps Robert
Hydraulic brake assist- means the car wont roll back on a hill start, without the handbrake or brakes being operated, even with the clutch depressed
How Do You replace the hand brake lever on the South African (Nissan Build) Uno 1100 Fire (1992 Model) 1108 cc Engine Spec? The Handbrake Lever doesn't hold up into the Ratchet part anymore and doesn't stay up when handbrake applied as the parts are worn down over the years. I tried Banging out the Pivot at rear of the handbrake lever but can't see what holds the pin in place and wont move, Is there a Split Pin Or Washer Holding it? Thanks Walter
lift the handbrake boot thing up from around your hand brake lever there is a 10mm nut tighten it up not too much other wise ur back wheels wont turn or will lock up you may need a 10mm long socket not a short-normal 1
Behind the handbrake lever there is an ashtray Take out ash tray Losen off smallbolt (3mm alen key) and you will see adjuster nut Ensure your car is on flat ground and wont roll away Release handbrake and tighten up adjuster nut till you get around 3 or 4 clics when you pull the lever up Check you have not adjusted to much by putting in first gear and lift clutch to just past biting and feel for back brakes sticking on Hope this helps G
Try turning it with long nose pliers
the way to go for music and tv is the pirate bay with utorrent and handbrake. you have to download but no viruses, if you check if the uploader is trustworthy(really easy, it says it)
Why you can't push the piston back. The majority of calipers that incorporate a hand brake mechanism have an adjuster inside which compensates for pad wear. Forcing the piston back can damage this adjuster. Ideally you should use a piston wind back tool - this rotates the piston and pushes it back at the same time. You can get away without this tool, but do NOT use grips on the hydraulic surface! Most handbrake calipers require you to rotate the piston clockwise, do this a turn at a time, then push piston back gently (if you apply the handbrake lever slightly by hand - you'll feel when you've taken up the play)Saab 9000, Volvo 480 and Mazda handbrake calipers have an hex key adjuster hidden behind a bung - use a 4mm hex key to wind/adjust pistons on these type of calipers.Isn't the internet a wonderful thing when we're stuck - Mrbrakes.
