It does! I can smell it! and it doesn't smell the way it tastes. It's very hard to describe, but I would say it has a rusty, burned cent. Although almost everyone I have told this to thinks I'm crazy. But that's just because they don't feel like putting their noses in salt them self's.
I know it contributes to the elimination of some odors. As for whether it absorbs it or not, I do not know. It does have antimicrobial properties, however.
Sodium chloride hasn't odor but the nose is sensible to saline aerosols.
