they live mostly in water so the could find therefood and they sleep on the land differant seals live out and in water. most seals live out of water because they are mamals but seals have slick wet skin so they swim through the water fast and easy. they go into the water to protect themselvs but the go on land to protect themselves to.

Whales almost exclusively life in saltwater. Some hunting whales like orcas are sometimes found in fresh water inlets from the ocean.

Seals are adaptable to both conditions. - At times while canoeing the Fraser River in British Columbia, I have seen seals more than 70 miles from the sea.
