Yes, On Oct.6th 2010 I was bow hunting in Yale, Michigan, 16 ft. off the ground in a tree when a screech owl whacked me up side the head at dusk. It then landed in a tree just in front of me (that's how I knew it was an owl) facing me. Once I composed myself after the initial surprise, I immediately text a friend to what had just happened. As I text him, I believe the same owl struck me again in the exact same place aside my head. Luckily, I was wearing a face mask which had material covering the sides of my head. I originally thought it was a fluke that he struck me but the phone was illuminating my face when he struck me the second time. That was enough for me.

Yes, but rarely. If you make eye contact though, the Barred Owl will more than likely take that as an act of aggression.
