Although these birds are not particularly interesting (DO NOT RELEASE THEM), they will starve as they have nothing to eat and do not have even the basic skills to live in the wild. If you wish to get rid of them you can give them to your local pet shop. They should be happy to accept.

Yes, it is possible to hand tame a finch. It is more likely to work if you start when the bird is very young. Keep in mind that a tame finch will not act the same as other tame birds like a budgie. They may not be as affectionate or playful but they will probably still be good company. There was an article in BirdTalk magazine about hand tame finches a few years ago. If you contact the publisher you may be able to purchase a back issue or reprint of the article.
