  • In my opinion, no it will swell.
  • In my opinion, yes you can install laminate over tile if the tile is in good condition/stable and even. You would first put underlayment above the tile and then the laminate on top. (you always add underlayment before laminate). It is important, though, to make sure you have enough clearance for the doors (you may need to shave the doors). If it's a kitchen, you also want to make sure there is enough clearance for the appliances.

Can you install a ceramic floor over an existing laminate floor?

It depends on the condition, material and surface of the laminate. A linolium floor, for example, is soft composition with a textured surface. This makes a horrible foundation for ceramic tile, giving room to crack the grout between tiles. A hardwood-type laminate is smoother and harder which is a better foundation. That said, the best thing to do is rip the laminate out and start fresh.

Can you install laminate floor over laminate floor?

No, laminate is floating type of floor installed over an insulation pad. Hardwood floor has to be nailed, stapled or glued to the subfloor. If you do manage to install hardwood on top of laminate sooner or later your Laminate floor will expand due to high temperature or humidity and it will create gaps between hardwood planks.

What best flooring can install over ceramic?

Many things can go over ceramic with ease, but the "best" option is one which works in the room you're doing. For example, laminate flooring is most forgiving of the unevenness (groutlines) of ceramic tile and easiest to install - but I would not put laminate in a bathroom (it's not moisture resistant). For a bathroom, the best option over ceramic is sheet vinyl. Be sure to use leveling compound to smooth grout lines even with the surface of tiles first.
