No, it's not recommended to cut the Elf on the Shelf's hands apart as it may damage the doll and affect its ability to be posed. It's best to keep the elf intact for a lasting and enjoyable holiday tradition.
Yes, you can touch Elf on the Shelf with paper. The rules typically state that the magic of the Elf on the Shelf only disappears if the elf is touched by human hands. Using paper to touch the elf would not break this rule.
yes they do hold hands
they don't hold hands
go to the person and say can i hold hands
I would reccomend using tongs, or bare hands. if you use bare hands put sugar on the elf to heal it if an adult then itI've hear is ok for adults to touch them and bring them places.d

Not worry about it. Maybe wash your hands if its been handled by other people. After all, you don't necessarily know where their hands have been.

Only parents are allowed to touch your very special elf... on one condition. If your elf hasn't moved for two or three days only one person may move the elf. to move the elf they must lay the elf in both hands. Once he or she is in their new spot they will leave notes telling you they are okay in their new spots
