People do not "grow out" of ADHD. As they get older we learn to control and even use our ADHD gifts.

I've learned to filter myself when I get excited

I've learned to use what I refer to as laser-focusing when I'm troubleshooting computers or writing a program.

As the level of hormones and maturity comes in, a person naturally slows down, but no, for the most part, you do not out grow it. My husband is 35, and you only have to know him for a few minutes to know he is severely ADHD. However, he has never taken drugs for it, but instead developed a healthy lifestyle, and learned to live with it. He is quite successful at being an Apache pilot in the army, which he never would have been able to do if on drugs for it.

I was diagnosed with ADHD in second grade and I am now in College studying medicine. Outgrowing ADHD is a very difficult task that I found. What helped me was to understand what ADHD is first which is a lack of dopamine in the brain. Dopamine functions as a hormone and neurotransmitter in the brain, and plays seven important roles in the brain.

However, you asked how to grow out of it. It is different for each person, however, I will list a few options to help you start growing out of it.

*Set a schedule and follow it to a T. If you plan to go to bed at nine at night, turn off all your electronics and lights and get into bed at 8:50.

*Homework set a time to do it, if you start to get board with the assignment start a different classes assignment.

*Get into an exercising hobby, I found taking up a self defence class or Jujitsu really helps expecially with children who have ADHD. Be active at least two hours a day.

*Look into foods you shoudn't eat a lot of, I found anything with red dye in it, I had to stay away from. So eating healthy is very important.

*Practice mindfullness every morning, yoga is really helpful for this part

*Think before doing soemthing, even speaking, us ADHD persons are yes impulsive but in a lot of cases we let our emotions decide things, so in practicing mindfullness should help.

I hope this helps you

In combination, ADHD is usually diagnosed at a young age and as they grow older, this causes them to develop schizophrenia.
