What is surgical glue?
Surgical glues and adhesives are used to attach organs,
structures, or tissues to each other or to effect repair. These may
include single components, such as cyanoacrylates or fibrin glue,
or may be enhanced by incorporating additional hemostatic or
sealant properties, (e.g., a combination of collagen and thrombin,
or a combination of thrombin, collagen and fibrin). Although
"surgical sealants" and "surgical glues" are sometimes used
synonymously, stronger adhesion distinguishes glues for their
ability to provide a level of structural strength.
