a few minutes

"A few minutes" is grossly incorrect. Actually clams can live for quite some time out of water. If keep on well drained ice or refrigerated dry, they can last for many days, weeks even.

No, without food clams can't live. Clams swallow the waters and then eat the food out of the water. Just don't put trash in the water because if it swallows trash may go into ot and destroy them.

Clams are basically a giant scallop/oyster. If you take a clam out of the sea, it would definitely survive without water... for a short period of time though!

Clams are not suited to live in tap water for an extended period of time as the water parameters are typically not ideal for their health and survival.
