I wouldn't think so. That would only thin the oil even further and possibly damage other parts. The only fix for a bad rod bearing is to check the crankshaft for damage as well as the rod and measure the diameter of the journal for out-of-round conditions. If you are lucky, you may just replace the worn bearing...but most are not that lucky and I wouldn't advise it. When a rod starts knocking, it's like hitting the crankshaft with a hammer and it will wear the sides of the rod cap/crank journal until it gets so much play, it breaks the rod,rod cap or piston..hence the saying "Sling a rod".
Could beLow transmission fluid level,Dirty transmission fluid,Bad shift solenoid(s),Transmission mechanical problems,Transmission hydraulic control circuit.Start with checking the fluid level then a fluid flush.
Coolant? Bad radiator Radiator has a separate cooling tank (usually at the side or bottom of radiator) for transmission fluid. At times this tank ruptures allowing coolant to get into transmission. Most times causing a transmission failure.
Fixing a transmission bearing noise often times requires rebuilding the transmission. If you are mechanically inclined it is not hard to do. Make sure to purchase a transmission repair manual as it will make it easier.
WHERE DO I PUT LUCAS TRANSMISSION FIX IN A 1992 AeroSTAR
Fix the cause, or keep adding fluid.
look you are going to drain the transmission pan clean up the seal and change the transmission filter and apply fresh transmissionfluid.
If automatic, change fluid and filter. If manual, need clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing. If none of these work then, you are in for a real treat moneywise.
It depends where it's leaking from. I have had two previous cases of my truck leaking transmission fluid and both consisted of the pressure lines not being properly clipped on or a bad hose. It could be a old or faulty gasket inside the transmission box. Either way it would need replacing of the hardware. only way to fix it.
Start by checking the transmission fluid level. If this is good then replace the transmission fluid and filter. If it continues it needs transmission work.
put fluid in differential or have someone replace your syncros if its a manual
Take it to an oil and lube shop and have them flush the radiator.
how can i check the transmmission fluid?
