Koalas are not dumb, as the correct meaning for "dumb" is to be unable to make any vocalisation. Koalas are, in fact, capable of very loud noises.

As for their intelligence - they have as much intelligence as they need to survive in their habitat.

It is smart enough to know it's not a bear ....

There have been no definitive intelligence tests done on koalas (which are marsupials). Suffice to say that most of the animal's behaviour is instinctive, rather than derived from logical reasoning.

koala bears are smart in a way. They are able to tell which tree may bear the most fruit but it is all instinct.
