In the wild it's very rare for giraffes to lie down, as that would make them very vulnerable to predators. Usually they sleep standing, for a few minutes at a time.

How does the giraffe sleep?

It lays down to sleep. I've seen a giraffe lay down before, but not with it's head down too. Yet, if a giraffe is tired, then, I'm sure it will lay it's head down. Younger giraffes are mostly around older giraffes such as their mom and dad, so I think that they probably lay near each other to be comfortable. If you search "giraffe sleeping" on youtube, then, you may get clearer information.
