Often times, when donating blood, the blood drive workers will extract your blood cells and inject your plasma back into you. They do this so that they can get more red blood cells from you without necessarily "draining" you of fluids. Retaining your plasma allows your red blood cell production to increase, and you are also more comprehensible after your donation (so you won't pass out on the drive home).
