It's not easy...it's located on the passenger side beside the wheel well. Access is nearly impossible, but two bolts hold it in place one of which is through the bell housing (transmission case). You WILL need to remove the cross brace that is adjacent to the starter. Two nuts hold it place, but if you remove the bottom one and loosen the top one you may be able to remove it. I removed mine only because i had to replace the oil pump and had to take the engine out.

In fact I've got more money invested in the repairs (and I did most of them myself) than I have in the whole car. Bought the car with 37,000 miles for 4500.00 and the car now has 97,000 miles,

I just replaced the 1157 bulb in the right rear housing of my '99 this week. The housing is held in by two screws in the side and another in the bottom dead center. after removing the screws the unit pulls stright out from the back. Be careul as there are two push in locator pins atached to the back of the housing. If you should break one off JB Weld works wonders...hint, hint. Once the light unit is loose you will see that the wiring harness socket is the only thing holding it in the truck. This is a plastic spring clip that releases at the bottom rear. Note that it only goes back in one way. With the wiring unplugged you can now take the light unit somewhere comfortable. you will see that the lens is held in from the back with screws. well...a wrench and you. The 2000 Passports don't have a dipstick to check the transmission fluid like you'd expect. To check the transmission fluid you have to get under the vehicle. On the transmission fluid pan there is a fill plug. Take out the fill plug (with the engine off) and using a syringe inject fluid in the hole until is leaks out. Then start the engine let it run a few minutes and put more fluid in until it leaks out again. Put the plug back in and PRESTO! :P

For the rear, remove the tire and wheel. Remove the Brake Caliper and Brake pad bracket. Then the rotor should slide off the wheel studs. The front may have to have the spindle retaining nut and cotter pin removed once the brake pad bracket is removed. Be careful to not get dirt in the bearing.

the manufactures answer is no, but the answer to me is yes.... in order to remove it from a 98 or newer amigo you must remove the rear Glass window and that requires removing 1 thing of weather stripping from the vehicle, so if you dont mind that then the top can be removed.

That was because they made a study of Jeep CJ owners (it's most similar competition), which indicated something like 97% never removed the hardtop on those vehicles, and making the top removeable costs like $500 more and has engineering problems.The convertible Amigo has a canvas (supposidly) easily retractable top where the hartop portion would otherwise be. Unfortunately, it also has plastic windows.

Either you are low in transmission fluid or the transmission is slipping. Take it to a well qualified transmission repair facility.
Another possibility is the Throttle position sensor is bad. when the vehicle is off, locate it, it will be on the throttle on the other side of the housing from where the cable connects. you can unplug this and use an ohm meter to check I believe the outside terminals while opening the throttle slowly. If at any time its open the ohms increase or go over the limit then the switch is bad and it sends a closed throttle signal to the computer which cuts off the fuel supply to the engine which creates a bump feeling, or a jerking.
