Roll down hills inside a large inflatable ball (called a zorb or an OGO) - see http://www.theogo.com. There are two main ways of zorbing; 1. Hydro zorbing (H2OGO) where the sphere has water inside with the customer. The water makes the inside of the ball very slippery and you slide on the bottom of the ball - you do not tumble around inside. You can safely have 1, 2 or 3 people inside the zorbing ball at once to do this.

2. Harnessed zorbing (IGO and WeGO) where you are harnessed inside the ball (either one person or two people harnessed on opposite sides of the sphere). With this method you rotate with the ball and go head over heels all the way down the hill (safe inside your harness so you don't tumble.) Because the OGOs (zorbing balls) are so large (3.2 metres diameter - 11 feet) they only rotate once ever 10 metres (35 feet or so) and so you are not spun around incredibly fast. The balls reach speeds of up to 25 km/hr

"Zorbing" is an invented word by Andrew Akers (one of the co-inventors alongside Dwane van der Sluis).

The word Zorb is an adaptation of "orb" with the letter "z" added as part homage to New Zealand (where zorbing was created).

Go to the inventors' website http://www.theogo.com for further information about the development of zorbing.

The inventor of zorbing's website is http://www.theogo.com. They are based in New Zealand although they operate all over the world.

Their zorbing balls are the best commercial product in the world (after all these are the guys that invented them in the first place) but they're not the cheapest.

There are a lot of cheap zorbing balls being sold around the world - although some of these have resulted in serious accidents in the USA and the Czech Republic.

The inventors of zorbing also have a new product available for sale called The Fishpipe - check it out at http://www.thefishpipe.com.

zorb ball is made of thick rubber

No - the zorbing ball is not made of rubber (thick OR thin).

It is constructed from sheets of flexible plastic (either PVC or TPU) which are welded or glued together with hundreds of strings keeping the two skins separated.

The website of the guys who invented zorbing; http://www.theogo.com has a video on how to make a zorbing ball (or OGO) on their video's page.

Amesbury Sports Park, Massachusetts, and

Ski Roundtop, Pennsylvania

They also have a new ride called the Fishpipe, which is being installed in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee in summer 2009.

The simple answer is you can't. The company that holds the Zorb trademark is unwilling to sell individual units, mostly due to the cost and liability. Zorbs are big and time consuming to make. And while there hasn't been any known injuries to date in a Zorb ball, it could still happen if place in unprepared hands. However, you can contact Zorb if you have a nice location to set it up and want to start your own franchise course. But, the start up investment is 1.5-2mill and they will need to own you land.

But.... you can buy a zorbing ball, which is not a name, but an adjective. The companies that produce the balls for the Zorb company make the same and better balls for other entities. Of these, places to ride are now popping up everywhere.

Companies like ZorbNewEngland, Hydro-core, Hyper-core, Vertiglobe, Spheremania, Downhill Revolution, and many more are taking over the industry, legally, and making it available to the common consumer using stronger, more transparent balls and charging half the price. ZorbNewEngland even offers giant mazes, soccer, bowling, pool, and other games you play from inside a zorbing ball, but on flat land.

The guys who invented zorbing in New Zealand - have a new website; This website has details on how you can get into business with them to operate your own zorbing park. They don't sell the balls just to anyone though.

A Gigaball is very similar to a Zorb ball but smaller. A Zorb Ball is a large spherical ball made out of flexible plastic, it consists of two layers (the outer layer is used as a shock absorber and in between the two layers is just air). The practice of Zorbing is done using Zorb Balls. You normally enter the Zorb ball through a hole in the side, you then sit in the ball and roll down a slope in it.

Check out the inventors of zorbing's website http://www.theogo.com.

These guys are the inventors of the "zorb" or the "human hamster ball". They have sites where you can ride the OGO down a hill in Pennsylvania and Massachusetts, USA as well as in the United Kingdom.

They do rent the OGOs out as well, however it would be pretty expensive as all their products are commercial quality (ie very professional, strong and well built) and these products are very expensive to create - you are better off visiting an OGO site near you to experience the activity in a safe and controlled environment.
