A graphic work is usually printed in a numbered edition, where each print has its unique number, for instance 15/150. This means it is the 15th of 150 prints. There may be a small number of prints, unnumbered for the artist to use at their discretion, marked A.P or P/A. These are the artist's edition.

You cannot. The smallest numbered unit on a ruler is one centimetre and that has 10 subdivision marks. These unnumbered marks are 1 mm or 0.1 cm in length. 0.06 cm would be just over half one of theose subdivisions, but you would have to be very accurate to get that right.

It would be a function of the form:

w = c + k*p/2

where

w is the weight

p is the number of pages in the book

k is the weight of each numbered page of the book

c is the weight of the cover

The function could be further refined to take account of

  • step increases in the binding (it does not change with every page),
  • unnumbered pages,
  • rounding up the number of pages to the binding units,
  • page size
  • different page weights for different quality paper
  • and so on.

You will not find an ordinary ruler which shows 1.69 inches. This would require each inch to be divided into 100 subdivisions which is not realistic for an ordinary ruler.

Normal rulers give numbered lines for inches and either 10 or 16 unnumbered subdivisions of inches (there are other numbers of subdivisions but they are less common). If 10 divisions, then 1.69 inches is a tiny bit less than 1 inch and 7 of the ten divisions. If an inch has 16 divisions then 1 and 11 (of 16) subdivisions is 1.6875 - nearly 1.69 inches.

You can determine the thickness of one page of an existing book by measuring the thickness of all the pages together and then dividing by the number of pages. Note that the number of pages will be about half of the "page numbers" since most books will assign one number to the front of a page and a second number to the back of the same page. You have to remember to count unnumbered pages such as the title page and any blank flyleaf pages.

To determine the thickness of a page for a planned book, a publisher will make a decision about the type of paper they wish to print on. As and example, printers will typically choose a very thin type of paper for volumes of the Bible, which has a few thousand pages so that it can be compact enough for people to carry. High end books may use heavier paper in order to be more durable and carry a more elegant "heft".

== == The system of voting that is used in the house of representatives is the preferential voting system. For election a candidate must obtain more than 50 per cent of the votes in the count. The voter is required to mark his or her vote on the ballot paper by placing the number one (1) against the name of the candidate of first choice, and to give contingent votes for all the remaining candidates in order of preference by the consecutive numbers 2, 3, 4 and so on; all squares on the ballot paper must be numbered, although one square may be left unnumbered, in which case the blank square will be deemed to be the voter's last preference, provided a first preference has been indicated. The first step in obtaining the result of the election is to count the first preferences marked for each candidate. If a candidate has an absolute majority (that is, fifty percent plus one) on the first preferences or at any later stage of the count, that candidate is declared elected. The next step is to exclude the candidate with the fewest votes and sort those ballot papers to the next preference marked by the voter. This process of exclusion is repeated (to achieve the two party preferred figure) until there are only two candidates left in the count, even though one of those candidates may have been declared elected at an earlier stage.

Transmitter Programming

Important

Do not operate or program the transmitters in the vicinity of other vehicles that are in the keyless entry program mode. This prevents the programming of the transmitters to the incorrect vehicle.

Method 1 - No Tools Required, Program All Transmitters

Important

All transmitters which are to be recognized by the PDM must be programmed in a single programming sequence. When using this program method, all previously programmed transmitters will be erased upon the receipt of the programming signal from the first transmitter.

The order in which the transmitters are programmed will determine its numbering position within the PDM memory. The first transmitter programmed will be transmitter #1, and the second transmitter programmed will be transmitter #2. The number stamped on the transmitter case is for reference only; #2 can be programmed as #1, or vice versa. Additional unnumbered transmitters are also available.

  1. Close all the vehicle doors.
  2. Insert the ignition key into the ignition lock cylinder.
  3. Press and hold the door unlock switch.
  4. While holding the door lock switch in the unlock position, cycle the ignition ON, OFF, ON, OFF.
  5. Release the door unlock switch. The doors will lock and unlock to confirm the program mode.
  6. Press and hold the LOCK button and the UNLOCK button simultaneously on one transmitter. After a delay of approximately 15 seconds, the doors will lock and unlock to confirm the programming of that transmitter.
  7. Repeat the previous step to program up to 4 transmitters.
  8. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position in order to exit the keyless entry transmitter programming mode.
  9. Operate the transmitter functions in order to verify correct system operation.

Easy as that...

A total of 34,628 Model 57s (1959-1965) were made, while the even more popular 57M, in .22 Magnum (1959-1969) sold 66,889 rifles. Serial Numbers An interesting sidelight of the Levermatic story involves serial numbering. Today, we are used to the fact that passage of the Gun Control Act of 1968 required serial numbering of all firearms. However, when the Model 56 was introduced in 1955, federal law required serial numbering only of centerfire rifles, but not of .22 rimfire rifles. At first, Marlin began numbering the Model 56 .22-caliber rifles, anyway. The company had always applied serial numbers to their Model 39 .22-caliber lever-action rifles, and it seemed natural to continue with the Levermatic. However, a Marlin study showed that it was not really cost-effective to continue the numbering, record-keeping and reporting procedures for the new rifles. By that time, serial numbers had been applied only to the earliest-production Model 56 rifles, and then the practice was discontinued. As new Levermatic models-the Models 56DL, 57 and 57M-were added to the line, the same tradition of not applying serial numbers was continued. This tradition was continued when the Model 62 Levermatic was introduced. However, the Model 62 was a centerfire rifle. To their embarrassment, after about 4,000 Model 62 rifles had been shipped without serial numbers, Marlin belatedly realized that they had been in violation of the law. A recall program was initiated, and owners could return their rifles for serial numbering. Even at the time of this writing, apparently some of the unnumbered centerfire Levermatics have not been returned. Present owners can still contact Marlin for procedures to have their guns numbered.

Now, this might be a little bit confusing but here you go. In room 29, a door to room 17 is hidden upside-down to look like a table. Notice that the two leftmost candlesticks are not connected to the stand. In addition, the two candles for those sticks are casting shadows back toward the fool, away from the lit candle on the stand. This is also hinted at in the first room by the two banners on the ground, nearest the entryway. They contain the words "Go" & "17."

Using this door it is clear that there is a 16-step path through the Maze: 1 26 30 42 4 29 17 45 23 8 12 39 4 15 37 20 1.

Several of the rooms have unnumbered exits, but the destinations of these exits can all be deduced. For example, room 36 has four exits, of which only two are numbered (7 and 16). But four rooms (7, 16, 26, and 45) have exits marked 36. Therefore the two unmarked exits in room 36 must lead to rooms 26 and 45. By similar logic, the unmarked exit in room 21 must lead to room 1.Here is the connectivity matrix (asterisks indicate unnumbered exits)1. 20 21 26 41 2. 12 22 29 3. 9 18 33* 15* 4. 11 15 16 24 29 43 44 39* 42* 5. 20 22 30 43 6. 40 8* 32* 7. 16 33 36 8. 6 12 29 31 23* 9. 3 18 27* 10. 14 34 41 37* 11. 24 40 4* 19* 32* 39* 12. 2 8 21 39 13. 18 25 27 14. 10 24 43 15. 3 30 37 4* 16. 7 36 4* 32* 17. 6 33 45 29* 18. 3 13 9* 44* 19. 11 31 23* 45* 20. 1 5 27 37* 21. 24 31 44 1* 12* 22. 38 43 2* 5* 42* 23. 8 19 28 45 24. 4* 11* 14* 21* 25. 13 34 35 42* 26. 1 30 36 38 27. 9 13 20* 28. 23 32 43 45 29. 2 8 35 40 4* 17** 30. 5 15 34 42 26* 31. 19 21 44 8* 32. 6 11 16 28 33. 3 7 35 17* 34. 10 25 30* 35. 33 25* 29* 41* 36. 7 16 26* 45* 37. 10 15 20 42 38. 22 40 43 26* 41* 39. 4 11 12 40. 6 11 38 29* 41. 1 10 35 38 42. 4 22 25 30 37 43. 22 38 4* 5* 14* 28* 44. 18 21 4* 31* 45. 17 19 23 28 36

It is unclear whether the author intended for the unmarked doors to be an alternate solution. Since we have no direct statements from Christopher Manson on the subject, we can only speculate on his intentions based upon indirect evidence. Such speculation is inherently risky.

While Manson went to the trouble of making sure that as many doors leave a room as enter a room, this fact alone is not conclusive. Did Manson intend for the unmarked doors to be one directional? Why state that there is a sixteen step path, and set up door 17 as the only way to achieve this path, if unmarked doors could be used? Did Manson set up the unmarked doors to reward people for questioning the assumption that only marked doors can be used? Such questions cannot be resolved without further information from the author.

The year after the book was initially published, VENTURA ASSOCIATES, INC. a fulfillment house retained by the publisher provided the following additional clues to those who wrote to them requesting a solution.

The various components of room 45, put together properly produce the following question:

"What house will all live in?"

W + hat = What shoe + U (horseshoe shaped) = House Will (common to both names "---- iam shake spear" and "wood row ---- sun") awl = All (versus nun = none) elvi = Live (third reading is "vile") eye + N (sideways Z) = In

On the table, there are a row of up ended logs and a poster with a shaking spear and a ideographic sun. These can be interpreted as "wood row Will's son" or Woodrow Wilson. A quote attributed to President Wilson is: "Without God, the world would be a maze without a clue"

Beginning at the first room of the path, a hint can be phrased:

"Like Atlas, you bear it upon your shoulders."

1: Like is written backwards on the banner hanging near the entryway. 26: salt + A = Atlas 30: From text, "Why 'O' & 'U'?" = You 42: A Bear is the main feature of this room. 4: The holes and pegs are a form of intelligence test, abbr. I.T. alternately, the torches are I's and the gavel is a T 29: up + on = Upon 17: Why + Oh + You + Are = Your skip room 45 23: Taken from the text is the word "shoulder" to which we add the S from room 8. This is not entirely satisfying, because the next rooms do a good job of providing most of the letters, but not in quite the right order. 8: S 12: U D 39: R and on the tire O 4: "ELL" in maze on wall spells L 15: hat, hare, heart, helmet, house, hero all start with H 37: sphere, bottle, vase, cone, dice all end with E (clued in text) 20: S

The acceptable answers were "The World, Earth, or Globe."

Scott Purdy wrote the earlier version of this answer and thanked Andrew C. Plotkin for the information provided by the publisher and Narciso Jaramillo for his assistance in determining the reasons for several statements. Chris Mc Manus proposed the 8 room path through the Maze. John Bailey located the Woodrow Wilson quote.

April 12, 2016 Not much has changed a few of the same cards are still listed for sale many with 8.5 corners not much interest. If you can get a nice 9 under $1000.00 it is a good buy. still underrated with a serial number.

On July 21st number 68 a bgs 9 was sold. The eBay listing showed it was number 67. All 9 subgrades with 9.5 edges many of these bgs 9's have an 8.5 subgrade.

Today April 4 2014 number 86 not previously reported sold for $395.00 the bgs 9 card had a 9.5 centering grade 9 corners and edges and 8.5 surface grade.

March 4th, 2014 a PSA 9 card number 55 is being offered for sale. This card number is also not on our initial list. Sold $431.00

Today June 2, 2013 A new number (a raw card) number 28 became available. Also today GAI 1st graded 10 #94/100 is listed for $25,000 this card is one of the finest known.

March 3rd 2013 Card 65/100 sold for $1800.00 and card 19/100 sold for $1100.00 both of these cards were ungraded nm/mint or better.

Today August 9th 2012 A PSA 10 Ultra platinum became available #34/100 starting bid is 1895.00 This card sold for $920.00 Last I looked only 4 PSA 10's existed number 15 and 34 and two unnumbered reverse cards.

The 2004 Ultra card with the hummer number 171 sold for 80 dollars in a psa 10 holder. raw is about 1.50.

The 2003/04 Ultra cards remember each card has Lucky 13 on it.

Gold Ultra Medallion sold for 286.00 in a psa 10 holder

The Fleer Ultra numbered to 500 has sold for over 600.00 in high grade. A customer in a major card shop said he was offered 1000.00 in store credit for his card just pulled from a pack.

A BGS 9.5 Ultra Platinum numbered to 100 without the serial number is being offered today for 6000.00 July 28,2010 a raw card number 70 listed as NM/Mint sold for 3800.00 setting a huge milestone for this card.... so few are numbered probably due to Fleer's bankruptcy. remember we only know of 1, 3, (4 is hand numbered as is 45) A BGS 9 4/100 factory numbered just became available(two new numbers became available) 5,7,10,13,14,15,16,19 22, 23,25,28,47,52,54,55,64, 65, 67,68,70, 76, 79,83,86, 91, 92, 94 if you own any other numbers please add to this post. It is interesting to note that Beckett BGS is putting "missing serial number" on the new holders. This leads me to believe that the majority of the cards are missing the serial number.

The Ultra Platinum BGS 10 is missing the serial number as is a PSA 10. The GAI first graded 10 is number 94 The known PSA 10's are number 15 and 34 are the only 10's PSA pop is 4 PSA 10's 2 9's 2 8's. The finest known factory numbered BGS 9.5 card so far is number 5 all 9.5's with a 10 surface grade. During a listing on August 7th 2011 an ebayer came forward that he owned two factory numbered bgs 9.5 ultra platinum cards. That brings the factory numbered total to four with one hand numbered. He did not disclose his numbers or subgrades. I will assume that his cards are finer than number 52

Today I noticed a raw card number 65 is listed on ebay (October 15, 2011) this card had not been previously reported. number 76 is available raw on ebay today January 15, 2012. On March 13th number 19 sold. Number 23 came back up for sale (raw) sold for over $500.00 but ebay removed the item for some reason. Number 19 also sold recently in March 13, 2012. Number 14 BGS 9 sold for 380.00 on May 23, 2012. A psa 6 number 47 sold for $25.00 on April 24th 2012 On June 30, 2012 this card number was cracked out (47) was relisted and on July 3rd sold for 284.99. On July 4th number 64 became available for sale. LeBron James won his first NBA championship on June 21, 2012 Number 10 sold (raw) on July 17, 2012 for 530.00 (this was another previously unreported number)

This post remains as accurate as possible

Answer 1The Earth was not created, it formed naturally via gravity in the accretion disk surrounding the supernova that resulted from the formation of the sun. There was no purpose for the creation of the Earth, as purpose implies a pre-existing intelligence. Answer 2From a New Age religious viewpoint: The earth was designed and created specifically for human habitation. In the beginning there were dinosaurs. God cared for and provided for them They were allowed to flourish and multiply for many years. At some point their population reached a sort of high level and when there was just enough them they were destroyed. It was at this time when the earth was ' ..without form and void ' of life. Their carcasses were scattered over the earth and used to fertilize the soil. Dinosaurs are the main reason for why we are able to grow things today. Next came all the vegetation, insects and every creeping thing, rodents, reptiles, the animals and eventually humans. Answer 3From one Islamic viewpoint: Earth was formed for a very good reason! It was not the BIG BANG, or the Dinosaurs, or any other scientific "interpretation" that made life possible!

God was the one who created everything we see... He gave wisdom to us -people- so that we can live and recognize the wonders He created around us. God created us so that we may have the chance to know Him, and later abide in His heaven.

23. He will not be questioned as to that which He doeth, but they will be questioned.

56. I created the jinn and humankind only that they might worship Me.

57. I seek no livelihood from them, nor do I ask that they should feed Me.

58. Lo! Allah! He it is that giveth livelihood, the Lord of unbreakable might.

[quoted from, Meanings of the Golrious Quran, by Marmaduke Pickthall]

Answer 4From a Latter-day Saint Christian [Mormon] viewpoint: First let us establish one useful thing re the "How" before we move on to the "Why". God did not create the earth, but organized it from materials which were already there. He brought them together under His command, for all material has to obey a higher law - God.

Now as to "Why": He organized this earth so that He could bring about the immortality and eternal life of His (already existent) spirit children. We could not be proved nor could we be saved in heaven while while living with God. We had to prove ourselves as independents to be worthy of reward and glory. Also, as mere spirits only, we could see that God, Our Father, had an Immortal, Glorified Body of flesh and bone. And we wanted to be like our Father. Without such a body, we cannot experience a "Fullness of Joy": spirits only are extremely limited in the measure of Joy they can attain to.

So God created a physical earth whereon we could receive bodies and learn to control and grow our bodies, and learn to choose the right when not in His presence - to prove ourselves, you might say.

If we prove worthy over this [granted] lifetime ... if we repent and learn to grow and "overcome" - both physically and spiritually, we will prove ourselves worthy to return into His presence Forever - not just as spirits, but as complete Beings, progressed - worthy to receive Immortal glorified bodies - as Jesus: "Joint heirs with Christ in all that the Father hath" (as promised in the Book of Romans). As we call upon God to forgive us and put into effect, in our lives, the death, atonement and resurrection of Jesus Christ, being literal spirit children of God, we can become like Him, as we also become clean before God.

The Creation and placement of the earth forms a major part of this whole process for us to progress and become like our dear Father in Heaven.

There is no revealed account of the spirit creation - though it has been revealed that we all undertook one - only an account of this temporal [physical] creation in which we are all taking part, each treading the path that we are choosing, day to day, to travel upon. These paths will either bring us closer to God or take us further away. Which ever one we choose, we will prove ourselves worthy to return to Him, or otherwise - a glory and Kingdom with God, or a lesser Mansion (Kingdom) in the eternal world.

It has been given to each to choose - freely - what we believe and desire.

Answer 5

The present purpose is to teach man all about evil for his character development into Children of God. If he doesn't know the limitless depths of evil, misery, suffering and death... he can't know limitless love, mercy and forgiveness? Man needs to develop the character and discipline to CHOOSE THE GOOD and REJECT THE EVIL.

And when this earth is finally cleansed and purified by fire and re-made... it will be the "Center of the Universe," with the very throne of God the Father headquatered here:

"...I John saw the Holy City, New Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband... Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and HE WILL DWELL WITH THEM, and they shall be His people, and GOD HIMSELF SHALL BE WITH THEM, and be their God." (Rev.21:2-3)
