Biography

Teedra Moses was born and raised in New Orleans, relocating to California with her mother following her parents' divorce. Exposed to gospel early (her mother had once been active on the Southern church revival circuit), Moses brought a little bit of that fervor to her own vocal style when she began singing professionally. Working with producer Pauli Pol, Moses released a single, Be Your Girl, on TVT Records late in 2003, following it with another, You'll Never Find (A Better Woman), early in 2004. A gifted songwriter with a sweet and sultry voice, Moses mixed a light gospel touch with timely hip-hop-inflected neo-soul on her debut album, Complex Simplicity, released in 2004, again on TVT Records. ~ Steve Leggett, All Music Guide

Teedra Moses, (born December 17, 1976) is an African American R&B singer and songwriter. She was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana and later moved to Los Angeles, California with her mother, Shirley Moses, a gospel singer, after her parents' divorce. Moses brought a little bit of that fervor to her own vocal style when she began singing professionally. The final song on her debut album, "I Think of You (Shirley’s Song)", is dedicated to her late mother.

Moses is the mother of twin boys Ras and Taj; their father is rapper Ras Kass.

Prior to becoming a recording artist, Moses worked with her best friend Nonja Mckenzie as an assistant wardrobe stylist for artists such as Will Smith, Kelis, R. Kelly, and No Doubt. It was after breaking her leg on a video set that Moses decided to follow her heart and begin making music.

Following this epiphany, Moses signed with TVT Records and in August 2004 she released her debut album, Complex Simplicity, which was executive produced by herself and partner Poli Paul . The album peaked at #158 on the U.S. Billboard 200 albums chart, #10 on the Top Heatseekers chart and reached #11 on the Top Independent Albums chart.

Moses has also written songs for artists including Nivea, Christina Milian, and Mary J. Blige. She was featured on two songs from Raphael Saadiq's 2004 album Ray Ray. Her songs have been showcased on Noah's Arc, a Logo network television series, as well as "Entourage", a hit show on HBO.

Moses will make her acting debut as 'Lisa', in the 2008 film "Queen of Media," based on the life of New York City radio personality Wendy Williams.
