"Going steady" refers to a period in a romantic relationship where the couple has made a commitment to be exclusive and focus on building a deeper connection with each other. It typically indicates a more serious and committed stage in the relationship.

The phrase "going steady" originated in the 1910s-1920s in the U.S. It referred to a committed, exclusive dating relationship between two people. The term became popularized in American culture during the mid-20th century.

The term "going steady" was the popular term in the 1950s to refer to a couple who was dating exclusively. In the 50s, dating around (without a sexual relationship) was common. It was normal for a teenage girl to have a date with one boy one weekend, and a different boy the next weekend. When a relationship achieved an exclusive status, it was termed "going steady."
There have been many terms over the years that describe the same thing. It seems to depend on not only the generation, but on the age of the couple, as well as the area in which they live.
Other terms that are used to describe going steady:
- Dating
- Hanging out
- Going out
- Going together
- Seeing each other

There are quite a few ways, if you wish to break up with the Sim you are with, and like another Sim, flirt and build a romance relationship with another Sim while the Sim you're "going steady" with is over. If you don't like any other Sims, then there are certain things you can do to annoy them, experiment and see which one annoys the Sim the most. If this is not what you meant and that you're trying to build a higher relationship, then as I mentioned before, experiment with the Sim you're "going steady" with to see what the Sim likes.
