Southeast University (Bengali: সাউথ ইস্ট বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়) or (SEU) is a non-profitable private university located at Banani, Dhaka, Bangladesh. The university was established under the Private University Act, 1992 approved by the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh.[2]

Facilities

Southeast University provide credit transfer facility for its students. The university has signed Memorandum of understanding with the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, USA regarding transfer of credits earned by the students of Southeast university to that University.
The university has five computer labs. In addition there are one digital lab, one Pharmacy lab and two cyber labs. It also has three ladies' hostels.

Library

The SEU library has the collection of resources in Business, Management, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Communication Engineering, Pharmacy, Textile Engineering, Economics, Law, Environmental Studies, English language and literature, History, Culture, Psychology, Religion, Sociology, Mathematics, Statistics, Architecture, etc. The sitting arrangement of library is 100 students and shelf space of over 5,000 volumes. At present the library has 6,000 books and journals.

SEU student website Since poverty alleviation is a major goal of the Government, thrust is being given on socio-economic development of the underprivileged groups. The main emphasis here is on adoption of integrated and comprehensive approach taking the family as the basic unit for social services programs with emphasis on family and group development rather that individual development. The government has been implementing the following programs in the Social Welfare sector: (a) Urban and rural community development program. (b) Development services for the physically and the mentally disabled. (c) Development services for children. (d) Welfare services for the juvenile and the distressed women. (e) Welfare services for the aged and the infirm. (f) Rehabilitation program for the addicts. (g) Social welfare services for the beggars.
