Answer 2The above answer is incorrect. The correct is the Warsaw Pact, which was a military alliance of the 'socialist countries' of Eastern Europe. They called themselves 'Socialist' countries, not communist.

No, the government of Ireland is Fianna Fail. Irish politics is unusual in that the two main political parties are not on the main left/right spectrum, but Fianna Fail is fairly pro-business. The Irish Labour Party (Páirtí an Lucht Oibre) could be considered a socialist/social democratic party but there has never been a Labour Taoiseach and they're the 3rd largest party in the Dáil and the Seanad.
Ireland is a republic...However, they could actually be considered socialist due to the fact of large government influence. They have government control over healthcare, education, banks, and most businesses.

he Co-operative Commonwealth Federation (CCF) (French: Fédération du commonwealth coopératif, then Parti social démocratique du Canada) was a Canadian political party founded in 1932 in Calgary, Alberta, by a number of socialist, farm, co-operative and labour groups, and the League for Social Reconstruction. In 1944, it became the first socialist government in North America (based in Saskatchewan). In 1961, it disbanded and was replaced by the New Democratic Party. The full, but little used, name of the party was Co-operative Commonwealth Federation (Farmer-Labour-Socialist).

It developed gradually in the late 19th Century as being a Socialist party committed to social reform and meeting the needs of the urban working classes, but in it's early years the beginnings of what ultimately became the Labour Party was dependent upon the support of the Liberals, with whom it signed a number of coalition agreements to support each other's representation in Parliament. It had the support of the trade unions, who became interested in moving into the political field and who contributed to the development of the party both financially and by putting forward political candidates for it. Other Left-leaning political groups, such as the Fabian Society, the Independent Labour Party, the Marxist Social Democratic Federation, and the Scottish Labour Party, also were sympathetic to it and all gradually coalesced into a single Party unit. The Labour Party proper was officially established in 1900 and won it's first two Parliamentary seats in the October elections of that year, with Party co-founder Keir Hardie elected to represent the Welsh constituency of Merthyr Tyfil and Richard Bell in Derby. It had overseas support from the Australian Labour Party and also from Socialist groups and trade unions in the USA. In the 1906 elections, it's number of MPs rose to 26, and it thenceforth began to be established as a mainstream nationwide political party.

In 1932, various farmer, labour and socialist parties of Canada's western provinces joined to create Canada's first national socialist movement the Co-operative Commonwealth Federation, the CCF. Much of the ideology of the CCF was centered around Social Democracy. At it's first convention, the CCF adopted the Regina Manifesto, which vowed to fight capitalism and implement socialist values like public health care, communications and energy sectors. In 1956, amidst the Cold War's anti-communist sentiment, the Regina Manifesto was replaced with the Winnipeg Declaration, or Winnipeg Manifesto, which promoted Keynesian economics, a mix of both socialist and capitalist values. In 1961 the CCF joined labour unions, notably the Canadian Labour Congress, and created the New Democratic Party. Like the CCF, the newly formed NDP was led by Tommy Douglas the father of Canada's Health care system.
