On Sunday August 28, 1988. There was an exciting air show at Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany. They were squadroning up to 10 Italian military jets. The Aermacchi MB-339 fighter jets at Ramstein Air Base. 76 people were killed and 346 people were badly injured because three Italian fighter planes collide in mid-air while performing a very dangerous stunt called the piercing heart. 70 civilians lost their lives but the crowds added six more Italian military pilots. So that's 76. The victims were suing the United States for the air show accident. Firefighters rush to help the people that were hurt during the accident. One fighter jet was flying on it's own clipped into another jet and then slammed into the third jet. All three aircraft had crashed into the ground near the runway. The reason why the USA was sued for the accident because Ramstein Air Force Base is a U.S. Military base and the Italian pilots were also told to make the piercing heart.
