potassium bromide-disk technique

(pə′tas·ē·əm ′brō′mīd ¦disk tek′nēk)

(analytical chemistry) Method of preparing an infrared spectrometry sample by grinding it and mixing it with a dry powdered alkali halide (such as KBr), then compressing the mixture into a tablet or pellet. Also known as pellet technique; pressed-disk technique.
