Psychoanalysis look into what happened to the person in the past. the cure is by bringing out the unconsciousness of the mind. mainly the unconscious sexual desires. it explains neurosis (mind sicknesses) by connecting them to unconscious desires and feelings.

Logotherapy on the other hand, focuses on the future. it examines the person's life to find a way to bring more meaning into it. Frankl believed that the will to a meaningful life is what drives a person in all his or her ways.

Another difference between freud and frankl: Freud viewed his patience as if they ahd a neurosis ( a sickness), frankl argued and said the people dont have mental problems, they are simply looking for meaning in their life.

By profession, Frankl was a psychiatrist. Among other things, he gave what one would now call counselling to some newly arrived prisoners who were having particular difficulty coping with the psychological effects of having to adjust to a new, demeaning and painful way of life.
