What have you done to remove this low disk space problem?

In my experiences, the ways for you to resolve this low disk space problem could be different according to your different conditions:

* If there is too unnecessary files or programs stored on this C partition, clean them all up to free some free space.

* If there is enough free space on other partition, like D, E or F partitions, you can open Disk Management, delete or shrink the partition with free space and add the free space to your C partition there.

* If the free space is not adjacent to your C partition, you also can use a partition resizing tool to extend this partition, like GParted, IM-Magic Partition Resizer Free and Active Partition Master, etc.

* But, if there is no any free space left on the same physical drive, just buy a larger one to replace the old one.

No matter what your conditions are, just save all partition data on other places in case of data loss.

You have to create at least one more partition for Vista. If you install Vista on the partition where XP is installed Vista will delete XP. To avoid such problem you have to have one more partition. When you do that just start the Vista installation process from XP and choose just created partition for Vista.

Resize/Move partition, i am using EaseUS Partition Master.

Extend partition, especially extend system partition to maximize computer performance as well as better manage hard disk usage. By the way, you may find that there is a low disk space problem on a certain hard disk partition.

Shrink partition for different usage.

Make the unallocated space behind the partition you want to extend by moving partition.

Copy partition with fast file-by-file copy to protect your data.

Copy entire hard disk to another or migrate OS from HDD to SSD without Windows reinstallation.

Upgrade system disk to a bigger one with one-click.

Support GPT disk/partition copy.

Provide option to shut down the computer after applying any operation. This function is especially useful when you copy the disk which contains the operating system.

And Partition Master Free 10.5 is just released, allows to extend C drive (system partition), settle low disk space problem, manage disk space easily on MBR and GPT disk.

If a partition is formatted, or deleted, then the information saved on that partition is also deleted.

So, if there is any information on the partition you wish saved, backup that information or copy it to another partition or another location before deleting the partition.

The active partition is the partition which is marked as Active in Index table. the status and locations of partitions are stored in MBR(master boot record). The active status tells the system which partition to boot from. System boots from the partition which contains the Operating System(windows XP, 2003.....). So the partition which contains the Operating System is Active partition and it is the Primary partition.

So we can call the active partition as Bootable Partition or Primary Partition.

To correct a corrupt MBR or partition table, you can use command-line tools like "diskpart" in Windows or "fdisk" in Linux to rewrite the MBR or partition table. Another option is to use third-party disk management software that can repair or rebuild the MBR and partition table. Alternatively, restoring from a recent backup or reinstalling the operating system can also fix the issue.

(On Windows), the active partition is a primary partition on a disk which Windows will load its files from. An active partition is always a startup partition. If there are several OS's on the one disk, Windows will load from the one marked as active.

In a Windws PC, a sysem partition contains hardware level details of the hard disk and other partitions. It contains files that tell the Bios where to look for the boot loader, hence all disks must always have a system partition.

A boot partition is any bootable partition in your hard drive that contains an Operating system or a bootable utility.

The active Prtition in your case is the partition that contains the boot loader (Most cases the partition that contains the first installation of windows) inyour case windows 2000.This s also the System Partition not the boot partition
