Constitution day and/or independence day

17th of May, the day the constitution was signed in 1814

It is about that Norway got their own constitution and got out of union with Sweden. The norwegian national day is on 17. of May.

Granted our independence? When were we captured? The swedes and the Danes threw us around a bit, but we eventually escaped the Swedes (100+ years ago!). And if you are refering to WW2, the Germans withdrew their soldiers when the war had ended.

Our national day is the day we signed our constitution, not the day we won our independece. We were not a colony or anything of that sort.
